The Northlake social studies curriculum is designed to foster the understanding and competence of future world citizens through the integrated study of the social sciences and humanities.

Students engage with diverse topics related to small communities and countries around the globe. Starting on a familiar level, students progress to develop a wider sense of the world we share through comprehensive and integrated lessons. Units expose students to different cultural elements of society and increase their knowledge base with non-biased, respectful lessons. Our students learn geography, map skills, history, civics, economics, and natural sciences. Vocabulary and math play integral roles. Each unit builds upon prior knowledge and adds experiences through hands-on activities.
